ERCO offers sustainable lighting solutions that are extremely efficient in application and produced with resource conservation in mind. For this commitment, the company has now once again been awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal.

EcoVadis is a globally leading platform for documenting the sustainability performance of companies. The organisation also supports supply chain analysis and compliance to help identify risks and comply with statutory provisions such as the German Supply Chain Duty of Care Act.

The evaluation includes 21 sustainability criteria across categories such as “Environment”, “Labour and Human Rights”, “Ethics” and “Sustainable Procurement”. After receiving its first award in 2024, ERCO not only maintained its silver status this year, but also improved its score by 3 points. By being awarded, ERCO ranks among the top 15% of over 100,000 companies assessed in 2025. In the overall evaluation, the specialist in LED architectural lighting achieved 92 out of 100 points – just three points shy of the gold medal. ERCO performed above the industry average in all categories.

“We view sustainability as an integral part of our corporate strategy. For us, as a medium-sized company not yet obligated to report on sustainability, assessing the status quo of our processes was an important step – and winning the Silver award again is a great success. The EcoVadis classification and the improvement in our overall score confirm our consistent commitment to sustainable production and the application of our lighting solutions. The motivation to achieve gold certification is strong and we will continuously improve our corporate processes in line with sustainability criteria”, says Marcus Schramm, General Manager of ERCO.

The Silver Medal is not only an important milestone for the company itself, but also a decisive factor for project partners. For example, criteria for a sustainable, transparent supply chain on the manufacturer’s side are confirmed by the EcoVadis award.

ERCO Greenology is the sustainability strategy for developing durable luminaires. Through the “Lighting Durability” approach, ERCO designs and builds products with a service life of at least 20 years. The products are highly effective in use: Thanks to high-precision lighting technology systems developed in-house, light is directed precisely onto the target surface without scattering losses. This ensures light is used only where needed.

Sustainable lighting innovator takes home Net Zero Achievement and Most Outstanding Business accolades

EGG Lighting, the Glasgow-based circular lighting specialist, has been recognised with two major awards at the Glasgow Business Awards, held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central on Thursday 2nd October.

The company secured both the Net Zero Achievement Award and the Most Outstanding Business Award, cementing its position as a leader in sustainable infrastructure and circular economy practices within the lighting sector.

The Net Zero Achievement Award recognises EGG Lighting’s work in making circular lighting a practical reality. Rather than simply discussing sustainability, the company has delivered tangible results through remanufacture, compliance, and measurable carbon reduction across its operations.

The Most Outstanding Business Award reflects the company’s growth whilst maintaining focus on technical excellence, commercial integrity, and ethical business practices.

“These awards recognise our commitment to real sustainability and responsible growth,” said Brian O’Reilly, Managing Director of EGG Lighting. “They’re a credit to the whole EGG Lighting team – from innovation to delivery.”

Powering the shift to circular services

EGG Lighting exists to power the shift from throwaway assets to circular services. The company envisions a world where infrastructure is no longer discarded but continuously improved, leading a transformation that replaces wasteful, one-time product cycles with smart, trackable, and service-driven models that extend life, reduce carbon, and create enduring value.

The company’s remanufacturing process has already repurposed over 4,000 lighting fixtures, helping organisations across its client base to significantly reduce their carbon footprint and demonstrating the commercial viability of circular economy principles in the lighting industry.

Recent parliamentary recognition

The Glasgow Business Awards success follows a period of significant recognition for EGG Lighting. In September 2025, the company won the Environmental Award at the Inspiring City Awards, which led to a formal commendation in the Scottish Parliament.

The parliamentary motion praised EGG Lighting’s “leadership in helping businesses reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions across Glasgow” and recognised “the dedication of staff and management in advancing energy efficiency, green technology and environmental education.”

In October 2025, following the Glasgow Business Awards win, EGG Lighting received a second Scottish Parliament commendation for the Most Outstanding Business award. This acknowledged the company’s “innovative approach to sustainable lighting solutions” and its “significant contribution to the city’s green economy,” noting that EGG Lighting’s commitment to the circular economy and net zero targets aligns with Glasgow’s environmental goals.

The Silhouette Awards, a global mentorship programme dedicated to identifying, celebrating, and supporting the next generation of talent in the lighting design industry, is proud to announce a milestone year ahead as it prepares to celebrate its fifth anniversary.

Launched in 2021 through a collaboration between Archifos and Parrot PR & Marketing, the initiative has already aided the transformation of the careers of more than 80 participants worldwide. Over the past four years, the Silhouette Awards has grown into a vibrant international community that champions creativity and vision across the lighting industry.

Each year, 20 outstanding mentees are selected through a competitive global application process. Applicants are invited to share their journey, achievements, and ambitions via a three-minute video – a format that makes the process both personal and inclusive, giving every applicant the chance to speak directly to the programme’s panel of mentors.

But the Silhouette Awards go far beyond individual recognition. At its heart, the programme fosters collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and long-term professional relationships between mentors and mentees. Connections forged often extend far beyond the official mentorship period, creating a supportive network that strengthens the global lighting design community.

As the programme enters its fifth year, momentum is building for a truly special celebratory season. By the end of this milestone year, the Silhouette Awards will have proudly partnered 100 mentors with 100 winning mentees, with an ever-expanding reach across the globe.

To mark the anniversary, the Silhouette Awards will be present at key industry events every month throughout 2025, offering the community multiple opportunities to come together and celebrate. Alongside an active press and social media presence, these events will showcase the achievements of the programme so far, as well as inspire the next generation of entrants, mentors, and sponsors.

The fifth season of the Silhouette Awards has now officially launched, with an exceptional group of mentors already confirmed and ready to share their expertise with the next generation. Applications for mentees will open on this date, inviting emerging lighting designers to participate in what will be an exciting journey.

Going into Year 5, the confirmed Silhouette Awards sponsors are:

Power – Huda Lighting

Core – formalighting and Signify

Light – ADO Lights, DiGidot, Ligman and Vivalyte

The Silhouette Awards are a collaboration between Parrot PR & Marketing and Archifos. To find out more – or to get involved as an entrant, future mentor, or sponsor – contact info@silhouetteawards.com.

Celebrating some of the most forward-thinking technology across lighting, audio, AV, staging, rigging and beyond, the awards recognise products that bring something genuinely new to the table, whether it’s a technical step forward, a sustainability breakthrough, or a clever commercial edge.

Run in partnership with LSi, the awards are independently judged by a panel of experts who know what real innovation looks like. All shortlisted entries will be showcased in the Innovation Gallery at PLASA Show 2025, which returns to Olympia London from 7th – 9th September.

The products will also appear online in the show’s Virtual Innovation Gallery and benefit from exposure across email and social media campaigns, reaching a wide audience of engaged professionals.

The Awards for Innovation are open to everyone, whether you’re exhibiting at PLASA Show, a PLASA member, or simply have something worth shouting about.

Plus, if you get your entry in by Friday 1st August, you’ll save 20 percent with the early bird rate and be included in LSi’s editorial coverage in the lead-up to the show. The final deadline for entries is Friday 22nd August. Winning products will be revealed during an intimate industry gathering on the evening of Monday 8th September, during the PLASA Show.

James Eade, chair of the judging panel, says: “These awards are all about substance over spin. If your product genuinely makes life better for the people using it, the judges will notice. Being recognised can really make a difference.”

Up to eight products will be selected for a coveted Award for Innovation, and one standout could be honoured with the coveted Gold Award. There’s also a dedicated Sustainability Award available for products that demonstrate meaningful environmental impact.

Last year’s winners included some of the most inventive names in the business. Glensound took home Gold for its GTM Mobile interface, the first of its kind for eSports mobile audio.

Other winners included HIVE for its compact media players, Ampetronic & Listen Technologies for its Auracast listening system, Fourier Audio for its powerful plug-in server, and Astera, Karno, and Robe for standout lighting and audio innovations.

Vari-Lite claimed the Sustainability Award for a retrofit engine that gives existing fixtures a new lease of life. Several other products were also commended for their creative approaches to production challenges.

A family-run electrical business has achieved an awards quad trick after being named winners at the Central England Prestige Awards for the fourth year running.

Starkey Electrical was named ‘Electrical Contractor of the Year 2024/25’ in recognition of its positive engagement with customers, high-quality reviews and testimonials and for having built up a loyal customer base in its local area of Stourbridge.

The win marks the fourth consecutive award Starkey Electrical has received at the annual ceremony, which this year took place at Moor Hall Hotel in Sutton Coldfield on Monday, 26th May – and the second time the team has won in this category.

The company, which was founded in 2009 by husband-and-wife team Stuart and Lisa Starkey, has also previously been awarded ‘Sustainable Electrician Company of the Year’ and ‘Electrician of the Year,’ making it a Prestige multi-award winner.

Stuart Starkey, Managing Director at Starkey Electrical, said: “To be recognised for an award once is a huge achievement, but four times is incredible. As a small company, we have always strived to provide a world-class, exceptional end-to-end customer service and, of course, do an excellent job in the process.

Our team continues to grow from strength to strength and this award is testament to the exceptional talent of our team, who always go above and beyond for our customers – a commitment that has now been recognised and rewarded four-fold. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on our journey over the past 16 years and continues to do so.”

The Prestige Awards believe that SMEs are the backbone of any economy and were set up to celebrate businesses and individuals consistently offering excellent products and services, while also making an impact in their communities.

Starkey Electrical is MCS certified and provides building automation, solar PV, energy efficient LED lighting and EV charging services to clients in residential developments, leisure, education, healthcare and industrial facilities.

The DALI Alliance is proud to announce that DALI+, its next-generation wireless and IP-based lighting control technology, earned two top honours at the 2025 LightFair Innovation Awards.

Presented on 6th May 2025 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the annual awards recognize some of the most ground-breaking developments in the lighting and controls industry. Among the 11 category winners and four distinguished overall awards, DALI+ was recognised for:

  • Category Award: Best Control Enabling Technology
  • Overall Award: The Design Excellence Award

Judged by lighting and controls experts from across the industry, these awards recognize DALI+ as a standout innovation delivering advanced functionality, scalability, and interoperability for modern lighting systems. The judges praised the technology stating: “This represents a big step forward, extending DALI’s benefits to wireless networks.”

“These awards validate our vision for a smarter, more connected lighting ecosystem,” said Paul Drosihn, General Manager of the DALI Alliance. “DALI+ extends DALI into wireless and IP-based domains, without sacrificing interoperability or compliance with global standards.”

DALI+ builds on the trusted DALI protocol by using Thread as the wireless carrier, enabling standardised, robust, two-way control for features such as advanced dimming, diagnostics, and data exchange. DALI+ brings wireless control to the proven DALI ecosystem, and when paired with DALI-2, enables seamless hybrid systems that simplify integration in today’s smart buildings.

These dual wins position DALI+ as a transformative step forward in lighting innovation – cementing the DALI Alliance’s role at the forefront of intelligent building technology.
