Designed as a high-impact business hub, Innovation Park offered startups strategic exposure, investor access, and critical visibility on the global stage. Three months later, ISE shares some of Innovation Park’s success stories and how it is providing real-world opportunities for new businesses – and why startups looking to scale should start planning now for ISE 2026.

Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the world-renowned annual tech show for the audiovisual and systems integration industry, introduced Innovation Park at ISE 2025, a dynamic business hub aimed at showcasing startup ventures and presenting exciting new ideas.

Centrally located in Congress Square, Innovation Park featured 80 promotional pods for startups to present their ideas, offering a way for new businesses to establish a presence at ISE. Following an application process, selected startups were chosen based on their adherence to relevant criteria for attendance at ISE.

For many startups, Innovation Park served as a crucial catalyst for future business growth by providing direct access to investors, partners, and industry experts. In addition to the promotional pods, Innovation Park featured a dedicated Pitching Stage, a Matchmaking Area, and on the first day, an exclusive Investor Forum. This dynamic setting offered a unique opportunity for startups to present their solutions, secure funding opportunities, and build long-term relationships with a high-calibre audience.

“Innovation Park was created to support emerging talents in the AV community,” said Mike Blackman, Managing Director of Integrated Systems Events. “The enthusiasm on the floor and the quality of the partnerships demonstrated this platform’s importance in shaping our industry’s future. The diverse solutions, from acoustic simulation and spatial audio to digital signage and intuitive UI tools, addressed real-world problems effectively. The market response showed readiness to embrace these next-generation AV pioneers.”

Big wins for bold ideas: Startup momentum from ISE 2025

Treble Technologies, a pioneer in next-generation acoustic simulation and spatial audio software from Iceland, used its presence at Innovation Park to demonstrate the power of its advanced sound modelling tools. The company’s solutions enable engineers and designers to simulate and analyse how sound behaves in any environment with exceptional precision. “Innovation Park was a fantastic opportunity for Treble Technologies to showcase our groundbreaking advancements in acoustic simulation and spatial audio. One of our standout moments was participating in the Investor Forum panel, where we shared insights on navigating growth – from initial concept to acquisition – highlighting the pivotal challenges and strategic decisions that have shaped our success.” said Guillaume Demerliac, Senior Marketing Specialist with Treble Technologies.

Similarly, AVGator’s CEO, Vadim Chekirka, underscored the event’s key role in shaping AV technology’s future. “ISE 2025 was a fantastic opportunity to connect with forward-thinking professionals who are shaping the future of AV technology. We were excited to see the strong demand for efficient UI development tools and the growing interest from manufacturers in providing software solutions alongside their hardware. Partnerships like these open new doors for innovation, ultimately making customers’ lives easier and more productive.” AVgator Inc. bases in the United States, is specialised in cutting-edge AV integration solutions and is a proud Crestron Service Provider (CSP), delivering advanced programming and GUI development for Crestron, Extron, Biamp, and Q-SYS control systems.

Digital Signal AV, also based in the United States and a global provider of high-performance visual solutions, set clear KPIs and focused on achieving these, with Daniel LeCour reflecting, “We had two main goals for ISE 2025: show our innovative products to increase awareness and meet potential clients and partners from around the world. Innovation Park has proven to be a great way for small start-up companies like Digital Signal AV to achieve both.”

Efrat Elitzur from Tecom Electronics Ltd based in Israel – a company offering advanced multimedia and pro AV solutions that integrate complex yet user-friendly systems for hybrid classrooms, meeting rooms, and knowledge-intensive projects – found Innovation Park to be a great platform to present new ideas. Based in Israel, she shared: “ISE provided the perfect stage to showcase our latest innovations for immersive classrooms, sparking insightful conversations and receiving enthusiastic feedback from consultants, resellers, and industry leaders worldwide.”

Global connections and strategic partnerships

The diverse range of exhibitors at Innovation Park was a testament to ISE’s ability to bring together brilliant minds from across all sectors. Gaëlle Dubois from Losonnante in France commented on expanding his professional network and securing quality leads, noting, “ISE marked a significant step for Losonnante. Over the four days, we had the opportunity to meet with producers, integrators, and distributors to discuss potential new applications for our bone conduction sound device and to develop strategic partnerships.” Losonnante offers a unique, multisensory sound experience through bone conduction technology. Their “Whisper Box” lets users listen by touch, transmitting sound through the body rather than the air. The result is a memorable, emotion-driven experience that promotes attention, curiosity, and engagement.

Moreover, Igor Murphy from Hive Streaming, shared his experience: “During ISE, we connected with 21 partners, 12+ clients and prospects from eight different countries, making it an incredibly valuable event for us. It was by far our most successful trade fair.” Sweden-based Hive Streaming equips organizations to deliver seamless, high-impact live video events by ensuring stable video infrastructure, maximizing video experiences and providing insights that drive strategic impact.

Award-winning innovations

Innovation Park also provided an opportunity for startups to receive recognition as part of award schemes available to exhibitors at ISE. Several were celebrated with industry awards, including Best of Show product awards.

Eamon Drew from Turtle AV lauded the event’s impact, remarking, “Innovation Park provided an exceptional opportunity to connect with customers globally. Our presence led to new distributors and systems integrators. A very big highlight for us was winning three Best in Show awards for our new products. ISE was a much bigger success for Turtle AV than we could ever have expected.” Turtle AV from Australia develops products for the AV market and is specialised in AV over IP using formats such as Dante AV-A, Dante Audio, H.265/HEVC, and more.

The debut of Innovation Park at ISE 2025 proved to be a success springboard for new businesses looking to grow. The initiative underlines ISE’s commitment to creating opportunities and nurturing high-quality networking by provided a place for startups and investors to connect and do business.

AT ISE 2026 Innovation Park will be even bigger, giving 144 startups and innovators the opportunity to pitch, shine and grow. Registration for Innovation Park is open. An inspiring preview of Barcelona’s celebrated light art festival featuring French artist Alice Labourel will blend cutting-edge innovation with artistic brilliance

Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) and Llum BCN are thrilled to announce their continued collaboration for the fourth consecutive year, bringing together the best of technology and artistic innovation. This partnership will be showcased at ISE 2025, held from 4th – 7th February at Fira de Barcelona Gran Vía, where attendees will get an exclusive preview of the mesmerising light installations of Llum BCN 25.

Llum BCN: Illuminating Barcelona

From 7th – 9th February 2025, Llum BCN will transform Barcelona’s Poblenou neighbourhood into a luminous canvas of art and technology. The annual festival, organised by Barcelona City Council, will feature light installations from 15 professional artists and creators, as well as 17 universities. The imaginative range of installations will include contemporary art, design and architecture, technology, and lighting design, turning the streets, squares, buildings, and parks into unmissable works of art. More than 240,000 visitors saw the 2024 edition of the Llum BCN.

Experience the Magic of Nature: A Captivating Preview of Llum BCN 25 at ISE

Visitors to ISE 2025 will have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the enchanting world of Llum BCN 25 even before the official start of the festival. Alice Labourel, a French Art Director and Artist known for her innovative fusion of visual storytelling and new technologies, will showcase her extraordinary piece, “A Tiny Bead of Pure Life,” on Thursday, 6 February, at 18:30 on the award-winning South Access Welcome Screen at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via. With her background in architecture and ballet, Labourel masterfully blends drawing, 3D modeling, mythology, and nature to create works that bridge the physical and virtual worlds.

“A Tiny Bead of Pure Life” is a mesmerizing 15-minute animated journey through surreal, abstract landscapes inspired by nature. Its slow, reflective pace unveils intricate details and tiny creatures, inviting viewers to ponder the minuteness of life. Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s novella The Death of the Moth, this work transforms the seemingly insignificant actions of small beings into profound lessons about existence.

This preview of Llum BCN 25 is a rare artistic experience, but the light arts festival itself is an exceptional reason to extend a stay in Barcelona after visiting ISE 2025. Don’t miss the chance to witness spellbinding performances and celebrate the city’s vibrant cultural life.

Llum BCN, Barcelona’s renowned Light Arts Festival, transforms the urban landscape into a mesmerising spectacle of artistic ingenuity. Meanwhile, as the world’s premier AV and systems integration tech show, ISE gathers trailblazing technology and industry visionaries all under one roof. Together, we are building a bridge that connects the art and AV communities, pushing the boundaries of possibility and creating unforgettable shared experiences. I am especially excited to welcome Alice Labourel and her extraordinary artwork to ISE 2025. Hailed by many as the theatrical event of its generation, Stephen Daldry’s multi-award winning National Theatre production of An Inspector Calls is a gripping and vivid adaptation of JB Priestley’s classic thriller. Having won numerous awards, including the Tony Award for Best Lighting Design, not to mention having played to over five million theatregoers, the show has now returned for a brand-new UK tour, with the previous one in 2022 being a record-breaking sell-out. Having lit the original production back in 1992, and all of its subsequent runs, Olivier and Tony Award-winning Lighting Designer Rick Fisher is once again part of the creative team and approached White Light (WL), a d&b solutions company, to supply his rig; with the company having worked on the show since its original West End debut in 1995.

An Inspector Calls tells the story of Inspector Goole who arrives unexpectedly at the prosperous Birling family home where they are hosting a dinner party. Yet their evening is soon shattered by his revelations into the death of a young woman; ones that shake the very foundations of their lives… Whilst the show has been touring often since its 1992 premiere, it actually had a life before this. Rick explains: “The first incarnation of this show took place in 1989 at the York Theatre Royal as part of their rep season. It was still in its infancy and was definitely developed further for The National’s production three years later; though the essence of the piece remained the same. The same could be said about my lighting design. Despite us now having worked on this piece for over thirty years, my design is still based on the 1992 production, which itself was built around the original rep rig for the Lyttleton Theatre. As such, when we return to the show every year or so, it’s a case of looking at how the advancements in technology can help enhance the look and feel of what we’re trying to achieve – essentially making sure it looks the best it’s ever been”.

When it comes to his design, there are three main side lighting positions which cover both the actors and the play’s action. Rick comments: “We have one position downstage of the proscenium arch, one upstage of the proscenium arch and then one further upstage from this. These positions were initially implemented due to the set design but we then realised, artistically, they created a very powerful look as well. We also light from above the Edwardian doll’s house and it’s important this has a cosy feel, to contrast the colder and somewhat alien ambience of when the actors are outside the house. Similarly, we also have to light the sky cloth as well as the rain curtain; both of which have very specific lighting specifications”.

Once again for this tour, Rick approached the Hire Team at WL to supply his lighting fixtures; with this rig being the most technologically advanced yet. He states: “Looking back at the show’s lighting over the past few years, we are slowly but surely bringing in more and more moving lights. For instance, with the overhead rig, this is made up entirely of Aryton Diablos. We wanted to be consistent with one unit that would work for all our needs – something that the Diablo does. Interestingly, we don’t use gobos or strobes and most of these moving lights don’t actually move! Instead they’re used as better functionality conventional lights that can be focused remotely. Similarly, by having more automated lights overhead, this has massively helped with the set-up of the show when it visits each venue. Rather than having to stop the technical fit-up for the overhead focus (which has happened in the past), this can all take place simultaneously given the fixtures can be controlled remotely.

Rick continues: “When it comes to lighting the sky cloth, the cloth itself is a beautifully hand-painted material, as opposed to something that’s printed; hence when you light it in certain ways, it can look incredibly different. For many years, we lit this using over 80 fresnels in a 6-7 colour wash and then mixed accordingly. Over time and various productions, this migrated down from 80 to 40 2K fresnels, before then changing again to about a dozen ETC Lustr 2s. Now is the first time it’s being lit by a selection of Diablos and looks the best it ever has in the show. Similarly, when it comes to the rain curtain, you could almost chart the history of lighting fixtures through what has lit this! We’ve moved from fresnels to Lekos to the original ETC Source Fours to PAR Battens and are now drawing on the GLP X4 Bars. Alongside the Diablos, these are the real workhorses of the rig and do a fantastic job”.

And whilst Rick’s aim on the show is to always “use the latest technology to ensure the show looks as good as possible”, that doesn’t mean the rig consists of entirely modern fixtures. He explains: “We still use the R&V Beam Light 500Ws which may now be venturing into the ‘classic fixture’’realm! That said, these offer a particularly special kind of light; one that is used to highlight the actors’ faces when it comes to crucial moments of the story, hence why I call them ‘confessional lights’. We also use a Patt 243 for another strong ‘work light’ effect. Thankfully, alongside their state-of-the-art fixtures, WL also has an extensive archive range which means I can then achieve the exact looks and feels I require”.

An Inspector Calls opened its latest tour back in August where it had a four-week run at a specially- reconfigured Alexandra Palace. It is currently at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre and will continue visiting venues until May 2025.

Rick concludes: “An Inspector Calls has always been a very special piece and continues to have incredible resonance right to this very day. Whether it’s the audience of over 2,000 at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre or the fact we’re visiting more venues than ever, it’s a play that continues to speak to people and we have a great responsibility in helping create a night audiences won’t forget. For this tour, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Will Evans (my Associate Lighting Designer), Alex Hannah (my Touring Relighter and Electrician) and Michael Fox who programmes the show as well as developed some of the bespoke rigging for the lighting. I’d also like to say thanks to the team at WL who continue to support this show after thirty years and always work incredibly hard to provide something that fulfils our budgetary, artistic and logistical needs. They truly understand the show and what it needs, and that long-standing relationship is greatly valued”.

The 30th anniversary of Prolight + Sound, the international trade fair highlight for event and entertainment technology in the heart of Europe, is all about fresh impetus. From 8th to 11th April 2025, the trade fair in Frankfurt will present the event industry’s largest international largest range of lighting products and the most comprehensive range of theater and stage technology in Europe. In keeping with the anniversary, the latter will be presented in a new light.

As the leading trade fair for theatre and stage technology in Europe, Prolight + Sound has been one of the top addresses for the international theatre community for years. Its importance for the trade fair audience remains high. At the 2024 show, almost half of the trade visitors – including many decision makers – stated that they were particularly interested in this sector. Prolight + Sound is taking this into account in terms of designing this specific area for the upcoming show.

Newly conceptualised and expanded
In 2025, Prolight + Sound will present a newly designed and expanded area for theatre and stage technology that combines four central aspects: exhibition, education, knowledge transfer and networking. Visitors can expect an inspiring platform for exchange between generations and industry experts, as well as a comprehensive range of innovative products and services.

An integral part of the concept is the “Theatre College”, which offers expert knowledge on relevant topics with high-quality, bilingual seminars and workshops – realised in collaboration with leading industry associations. The new “Theatre Stage” is the centerpiece, where presentations and the “Theatre Talk” invite exhibitors and the trade audience to exchange ideas. The Networking Area, with daily events and a café, creates an ideal setting for networking in a relaxed atmosphere.

Mira Wölfel, Director Prolight + Sound, emphasises: “For three decades, Prolight + Sound has been an indispensable meeting place for all those who see theater and stage technology not only as a profession but also as a passion. Our trade fair is much more than just an exhibition – it is a place where innovations are born, partnerships are formed and visions for the future of theater are developed. For the anniversary, we are creating a stage for the entire community: this is where the planners, technicians and designers of today and the talents of tomorrow meet to jointly redefine the industry’s standards.
Prolight + Sound is home to all those who love and shape theater.”

Product highlights in theatre and lighting technology

The “Guided Tours Theater & Light” focus on product innovations and new developments that are particularly exciting from a technical and planning perspective. The tours, curated and moderated by experts, give participants a compact overview of what these areas have to offer on all four days of the fair – and it’s free of charge.

Focus on top themes

Based on numerous conversations with exhibitors, Prolight + Sound 2025 will offer three top themes. These will also be reflected in the specialist programme and in product solutions from the theater and stage technology sector.

Mercury Sound & Lighting employs KL and FUZE luminaires for lighting renovation at St. Clair County Community College in Michigan

The SC4 Fine Arts Theater at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron, Michigan, faced an urgent need for a lighting upgrade due to an outdated system that had been in use for decades. Japheth Boivin, Director of Integration at Mercury Sound & Lighting, an AV solutions company that had previously installed a video streaming system and digital signage for the theater, spearheaded the lighting design for the renovation and chose Elation KL and FUZE series luminaires.

“The main impetus for the project was that the previous system was failing on all fronts due to its age and obsolescence,” commented Japheth, who says that the previous mix of conventional PARs and ellipsoidals dated anywhere from the ‘60s to the ‘90s. “They wanted a technology upgrade to something more reliable, more capable, and more versatile.”

The 300-seat theater serves a variety of functions, including theatrical performances, lectures, streamed and broadcast events, and other more utilitarian community activities. Japheth noted that the client also required a better lighting solution for the videos produced in the space.

KL and FUZE harmony

Based in Wixom, Michigan, just west of Detroit, Mercury managed the complete renovation and installation of the new lighting system, working in tandem with the electrical contractor. An important support piece came from Ed Cheeseman and Rob Ludwig of Elation manufacturers rep firm Five Lakes Marketing, with whom Mercury has worked closely for years.

Design work on the project commenced in the fall of 2023, with the main theatrical lighting system centered around two Elation series: the KL and FUZE. “Because the RGBMA emitter sets on the KL and FUZE fixtures match, it makes it much easier to get a homogenised field of light,” Japheth said. “From colour mixing to the white light needed for video washes, the uniformity ensures consistent results across the entire setup. They essentially have any colour they can imagine available to them.”

Theatrical KL

The KL PROFILE FC, a full-spectrum ellipsoidal with integrated zoom, and the KL PAR FC full-spectrum PAR light populate the electrics in every position, except for the overhead stage wash. “They are used for typical theatrical applications, general washes, and dedicated specials for frequently lit areas of the stage,” Japheth stated. “Also, since installing the streaming system, they began to notice the shortcomings of their broadcast lighting system so both of these lights are useful for those applications as well.”

FUZE focus and framing

FUZE PROFILE moving heads in the gallery and second electric position allows for remote focus and framing capabilities. “They lend versatility to the space while adding to the ease of use as they eliminate the need to access the catwalk. They wanted that versatility because they use the theater for such a wide range of events.”

Japheth says the theater’s architecture is unique and features a hard cloud system above the stage rather than traditional overhead electrics. Consequently, overhead washes are recessed, house lighting style, and mounted to the ceiling. He states, “The cloud has acoustical properties so to accommodate that and not have to remove it, we decided to replace the old fixtures with the FUZE PENDANT downlight. It allowed us to maintain the original architecture and have full-colour mixing abilities for an overhead wash over the stage.”

A great testimonial

Japheth notes that Mercury uses Elation products extensively on their projects and cites a full-system lighting upgrade at Port Huron’s McMorran Theater as a testament to the benefits of quality installations. “St. Clair was already familiar with the Elation lighting system at McMorran, which is just down the street from them and is the premiere theater in town. Having that theater install so near was a great testimonial.”

The new Elation lighting system, installed in July, will debut this fall, and Japheth looks forward to the stark difference that the client will experience. “Often when we complete these installations, the transformation from before to after feels like a completely new space,” he remarked. “The new lighting will undoubtedly open up for new design possibilities and significantly enhance the overall experience.”

B.E.G. has made an example of how buildings can become more sustainable by turning its own headquarters in Germany into a ‘showcase for energy efficiency’.

The construction and operations of buildings is deemed one of the biggest ‘climate killers’ accounting for 38 percent of global emissions according to research.

But B.E.G. in Lindlar, has become a ‘trailblazer for sustainable buildings’ thanks to the installation of a new server solution and state-of-the-art NetX building automation systems technology. The tech incorporates geothermal heat pump, ventilation, photovoltaic system, blinds, lighting, access, and security areas to form a single automation system.

At Lindlar, the geothermal system is controlled via ModBus, the photovoltaic system via BACNet. Air quality, air-conditioning, shading, the control of the gate system and accesses are controlled via KNX, the lighting control via the in-house DALI-SYS. In the high-bay warehouse, a wireless system called Casambi is also used due to its flexibility.

Different communication protocols and bus systems such as Modbus, BACnet, KNX, DALI and Casambi become a functional unit under NetX via one simple router. Heating, shading, excluding unused areas, increasing security, all improve comfort at Lindlar.

B.E.G. employees have an individual access chip which opens and closes the access gate to the premises and activates the room air conditioning when a building area is opened.

In the offices, super-flat sensors are used to control the lighting and provide increased comfort. This changes the light colour during the day and helps support the natural biorhythm of the employees. In the dark winter months, the Human Centric Lighting (HCL) function ensures a fresh start to the day.

Special HVAC wall sensors not only control temperature but humidity too so fresh, oxygen-rich air is experienced in the office rooms. In the process, it measures the proportion of volatile organic components – VOCs for short – so adhesives and chemicals that are emitted from walls, floors and furniture which can lead to feelings of illness are removed.

Human exhalations such as the smell of sweat, sulphurous compounds, essential oils, perfume, hairspray, and deodorant are also VOCs. If there are too many of these VOCs in a room, it is automatically ventilated. The sensors are also used in the conference rooms of B.E.G. where many people spend long periods of time and where permanently fresh air increases the ability to concentrate and the sense of well-being.

Hygienic and particularly energy-saving lighting of the sanitary facilities is implemented via another sensor, called the Indoor 180-KNX-DX. It reacts to movements and then switches on the light. It also has a noise detection system. This means that it also detects a presence in individual cubicles. During periods of non-use, luminaires remain switched off.

By adjusting the BMS server via a KNX router in connection with a blind actuator and a KNX weather station, building automation at Lindlar can also be adjusted to the course of the sun. In this way, the climate is much more pleasant inside during the summer, while in winter the blinds provide additional thermal insulation.

A mixture of KNX, DALI and Casambi sensors are installed in the B.E.G. warehouse building. In the high-bay warehouse area, detectors with their excellent daylight-dependent regulation in combination with KNX sensors help to ensure that optimum lighting conditions are always available.

B.E.G. has also implemented an innovative lighting guidance system where light accompanies the user through the warehouse like a ‘cloud of light’.

Thanks to sensor coordination across groups and even lines, the light is fully activated in the area where the user is located. The surrounding areas dim to a fixed orientation light value. As a result, the user never has a completely dark area in their field of vision: all adjacent, visible aisles are illuminated with orientation light.

In all unused areas, the light is automatically switched off and energy is saved. All the different systems are controlled by a server located at each site and combined with a higher-level server installed in the administration building. This allows the greatest possible degree of fail-safety through the use of several controllers as well as a maximum degree of control at the same time, and this is location-independent. The user only needs an internet-capable end device (smartphone, tablet, notebook) with a pre-installed browser and a secure connection.

The German manufacturer insists the ‘path to climate neutrality is through building automation solutions’ which is an ‘investment in the future’. Paul Jones, Sales Director of UK & Ireland at B.E.G, also says these type of systems are vital to the world in achieving its ‘climate goals’. The UK currently aims to reach Net Zero by 2050.
